Modern Warfare 3 getting nine months of DLC

As we reported back on November 10th, 2011 that Modern Warfare 3 would get 20 DLC packs over the course of 9 months, Activision/Infinity Ward has now released more information on this, when, early access to Elite subscribers and more!

Activision announced that 20 content packs are planned for release throughout the year, starting this month.

Modern Warfare 3 fans can expect a wide variety of DLC packs, such as your standard map packs, additional maps for the “Spec Ops” mode, and even extensions to Modern Warfare 3‘s singleplayer campaign.

“With the Call of Duty: MW3 Content Season for Call of Duty Elite we are delivering on our promise of more new content, more often, and with more variety than ever,” said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg in a statement.

“With three studios collaborating on the first season, the breadth and depth of material on tap is truly extraordinary. It’s rare you can successfully execute both quantity and quality, but thanks to the expertise of our developers, the reach of Call of Duty Elite and the passion of our fans, we intend to deliver.”

The season of Modern Warfare 3 content starts on January 24th with the release of the game’s first map pack that includes 2 new maps called Liberation and Plazza. These 2 maps will of course be available for multiplayer but as well as Spec Ops mode.

Activision says that each content drop, of which there will be 5 between January and March, will be made available to Call of Duty Elite subscribers on Xbox 360 first. Non-subscribers will have the option to pay for the DLC, and PC and PlayStation 3 users will get the content at a later date.

Black Ops Annihilation DLC Map Pack 3 June 28th

Call of Duty Black Ops Annihilation DLC Map Pack 3 will be coming out June 28th, 2011 exclusively for a month to Xbox 360. After a month, that DLC will arrive on PS3 and PC.

This map pack brings 4 more multiplayer maps and another zombie level installment.

These 4 new multiplayer maps are as follows:

“Hangar 18,” located in the iconic military base Area 51, complete with experimental weapons labs, the SR-71 test hangar, and a disturbingly mysterious autopsy room.
“Drive-In,” a close quarters slugfest through a 60′s American drive-in theater, classic arcade, and old school snack shack.
“Silo,” battle through the construction of a massive secret Soviet missile site.
“Hazard,” take off to a coastal golf course fit and set on the cliffs of Cuba where stocked clubhouses and manicured fairways meet sand traps perfect for setting up ambushes.

Zombies return with vengeance in the mysterious land of “Shangri-La,” a legendary shrine lost in an exotic jungle. Never before seen undead creatures lurk within a treacherous labyrinth of underground caverns. Step carefully through deadly traps and solve the dark secrets buried within the shifting walls of a long last land.

Black Ops: Escalation DLC Map Pack 2 Now Available

Call of Duty: Black Ops: Escalation is now available in the Xbox 360 Marketplace.

You can grab this straight from the Marketplace on Xbox.com, the Games Marketplace on your Xbox 360 console or from the Store in the Call of Duty Black Ops menu. It sells for 1200 MSP or $15 and include 4 multiplayer maps and 1 new zombie map.

Map Pack ‘Escalation’ and Double XP Weekend Announced

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation downloadable content pack will launch worldwide, first on Xbox Live on May 3, 2011.

The Escalation Map Pack contains 5 all-new exceptionally varied maps; featuring 4 Multiplayer maps and an epic Zombies experience with all-new playable characters.

In Multiplayer, battle it out in “Hotel”, on the roof of a Cuban luxury hotel and casino against the vivid backdrop of old Havana; “Convoy” delivers intense, close-quarters combat at the scene of an ambushed US military convoy; “Zoo” takes you on a wild ride in an abandoned Soviet Russian Zoo, with danger at every turn; “Stockpile” pits players in a remote Russian farm town housing secret WMD facilities.

For Zombies fans, “Escalation” features a unique Zombies experience. We can’t wait to take the wraps off of our new Zombies map, Call of the Dead, a very special creation for all Zombies fans.

Additionally, to celebrate the upcoming release, there will be a Black Ops Double XP weekend beginning the afternoon on Friday, May 6th, 2011 and ending early AM on May 9th, 2011.

Black Ops Double XP Weekend Starts Tomorrow

Treyarch is giving everyone another Double XP Weekend starting tomorrow, March 4th, at 10AM PST / 12PM CST. It will end Monday, March 7th, at approximately 10AM PST / 12PM CST.

This Double XP Weekend is on all platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii). You will see 2x the normal earn rate of XP & COD Points. This Double XP Weekend is largely due to the fact that today the first map pack Xbox 360 users saw a month ago, came out today for the PS3 only at the moment. PC and Wii are still coming at an unannounced date.

Call of Duty Black Ops Title Update 6 Live

Today the Xbox 360 Title Update for Call of Duty Black Ops went live. The title updates to the PS3, PC, and Wii went out 2 days ago. One of the biggest changes in this update is the second chance kills will no longer be stolen now, if you put the player into second change and someone comes along and takes that kill on purpose or by accident, you will still be awarded the kill and they will be awarded the assist.

Here is the changelog/fixes for the Xbox 360 version.

New Features:

New contracts added to the rotation.
Added optional pre-match timer for LAN / System-Link games.
Support for “First Strike” map pack. All First Strike maps will be available in every playlist on 2/1.

Issues Addressed:

Fix timing specific issue where the game can be put into slow motion.
Addressed “disconnected path” error when using the doors in Radiation after a host migration.
Fixed stability issues navigating lobbies after client on Split Screen Zombies quits out of a game.
Addressed issue/exploit when removing Counter Spy Plane effects with the Jammer.
Fixed a freeze when quickly loading maps one after another in private match.
Fixed issue where players get primary weapons in Second Chance.
Fixed “NEW” stamp not disappearing for Custom Slot 9 when highlighting the slot.
Removed water vision effect when respawning after dying in the acid pool in Radiation.
Several contract fixes.
Now allow players to connect to System Link Games even if they are not connected to LIVE.
Fixed crash when host migration occurred during a join-in-progress.
Fixed issue with players seeing incomplete Create a Class submenus when Party leader switches lobbies or kicks player.
Fixed in-game Friends List from opening when viewing then closing the playercard of a player in a lobby.
Addressed Zombies split screen issue where players sometimes get booted back in the lobby.
Replaced debug text appearing for some content in the in-game Store.
Fixed crash when attempting to watch a film or clip with 3 or more profiles signed in.
Fixed freeze while watching films and changing sign-in status using inactive profiles.
Fixed a freeze if a player opens the Xbox Guide while the match is ending and quits immediately as they arrive in the post-game lobby.

Gameplay Tuning:

Second Chance – players that put an enemy into Second Chance are now credited for a full kill once that enemy dies. If another player kills the enemy while the enemy is in Second Chance, they will get assist credit.
Adjustments to the PSG1 with attachments.
AK74U adjustments.
RCXD adjustments.
Silenced sniper rifle adjustments.
Removed hit markers when shooting friendly equipment.

Black Ops ‘First Strike’ Sneak Peak: Berlin Wall and Kowloon

Here are some sneak peak screenshots of the upcoming map pack for Black Ops being released this coming Tuesday called First Strike. If you did not already know, this is an Xbox 360 timed exclusive then it will come to PS3 and PC later on (approximately a month after).

Black Ops First Strike Multiplayer Maps Trailer

Here is the first look at Call of Duty: Black Ops DLC called “First Strike” that comes out exclusively to Xbox 360 (for a month) on February 1st, 2011. In this video Treyarch talks about the 4 new multiplayer maps but leaves out information and video about the Zombie map being release with the map pack.

Better shown and explained in the video, Kowloon will be the only map to feature ziplines to be used, Discovery will feature breakable surfaces and the Berlin Wall will have automatic turrets setup.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Title Update 4 Released

Today around 3:30AM Treyarch has released a Title Update 4 for Call of Duty: Black Ops on the Xbox 360.

If you have not received this update yet, the only way to force the update is to clear your system cache. This is safe to do, however, you will need to update every game that has any updates when you pop the disc in, which is not too much an inconvenience as Xbox Title Updates are fast as it is anyways

Go to System Settings under My Xbox on your Dashboard, then go to Memory and press the (Y) button over your Hard Drive and the 3rd option down will be to “Clear System Cache”, press the (A) button and select Yes. Then load the game, and you will get the latest update for Black Ops.

Are there new Contracts? Yes, there are! Finally.

Issues Addressed:

Resolved several issues with parties getting disbanded unexpectedly.
Updated handling for UPnP-enabled routers to improve matchmaking conditions where users had strict or moderate NAT types. Also added in-game communications so that all players are aware of their NAT type in the Player Match party lobby.
Addressed issue that prevented the “Load MP by Default” option from saving when other specific option combinations were set.
Prevention of exploit that allowed players to keep custom classes and killstreaks after prestige.
Addressed an issue where Flak Jacket Pro would not always protect against ground fires left by Napalm Strikes.
Prevention of users losing their killstreak reward when switching classes at the start of a new round in round-based game modes.
Addressed an issue where the incorrect perks would appear when spectating another player under certain circumstances.
Added round start explosive delay to China Lake grenade launcher to give it the same round start limitations as other explosives.
Contracts will now reset when the player Prestiges.
Prevention of Valkyrie rocket exploding upon release under rare conditions.
Prevention of Gunship failing to give player full control under rare conditions.
Prevention of an issue where a player will get teleported outside the map boundaries under very specific circumstances.
Additional security measures to enhance detection and banning capabilities.

Gameplay Tuning:

Limit the ability to re-roll supply drops using Hardline Pro to Care Packages only, no other killstreak drops.
Added a negative influencer to all spawn points to decrease the chances of spawning near an enemy. This will further improve spawning protection on top of previous updates.
Additional sound mix tuning for Ninja Pro users – increased ranges and volume of enemy footsteps, and removed player footstep sounds on concrete material types.
Increased headshot multipliers for sniper rifles. Sniper rifles with suppressors equipped will now always be ensured one-shot kill headshots.
Subtle increase in sniper rifle accuracy when scoping in.
Added a render delay to the red diamond player indicators that appear when controlling the Gunship, Valkyrie Rocket and Chopper Gunner. When a player first spawns, this will not appear for a period of time.
Additional minor reductions in knife lunge.
