Activision did not want Modern Warfare

March 5th, 2010 admin No comments

I am more than happy to hear that Infinity Ward fought for these titles to be released. I do not know what heads over at Activision think that such a title would be a risk. What type of people are they actually asking or who was doing the marketing research to think that no one would want such a title? These guys should be instantly fired from the company.

Why? The outcome was fucking crazy, ignore Modern Warfare 2 sells for a moment and just take a look at just Call of Duty 4. Yup, not much a risk anymore was it Activision and now you are rich. Not many people want games of the past anymore. Everybody is loving Modern this and that. Examples: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, Medal of Honor, Battlefield Series and others.

Former Infinity Ward bosses Vince Zampella and Jason West said last year that Activision never wanted to create a Modern Warfare title – and the studio had to “fight” to convince the publisher to let them create CoD4.

Zampella and West were sensationally ousted from their positions yesterday – after Activision security ‘stormed’ Infinity Ward HQ in California. The publisher accused some Infinity Ward staff – thought to be West and Zampella – of ‘insubordination’.

But it appears disagreement between the parties was nothing new. In October last year, Zampella and West discussed their differences of opinion with Activision to OPM. West even said Infinity Ward had to “fight for everything” with their owners.

Zampella added: “Activision also did not want Modern Warfare. They thought working on a modern game was risky and [thought], ‘oh my god you can’t do that, it’s crazy!’ They were doing market research to show us we were wrong the whole time,” he said.

Final word on MW2 beta rumors

August 19th, 2009 admin No comments

This is coming straight from Robert Bowling’s (fourzerotwo’s blog) but shortened for you with my own words. If you would like to read the original article and what fourzerotwo had to say, click the source link at the bottom of this post.

Unless Infinity Ward announces a Public Beta, their will not be one. So unless your information is coming straight from Infinity Ward or a website’s article with a source link to an Infinity Ward/Activision announcement, their will not be one.

This does not mean the multiplayer will be bad. Ask yourself when has Infinity Ward ever put out a bad multiplayer? Never. I have been playing since the first release of Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2 on PC and never once thought they were ever bad. They get more amazing each new game.

Robert goes on to also say that they have been doing closed beta’s inside of Infinity Ward, Activision, and possibly 1st party partners worldwide. Also if they feel once the internal beta has completed and they do not feel they have received the feedback they wanted. They will push forward to a public one.

Remember, only at this time there will be a internal beta. This does not mean at all their might be a huge change there will be a public one this year. I know we all want to see one, just like their was with COD4 and CODWAW but from this announcement, do not lose sleep over thinking their may be one this time.

Rumor: Call of Duty moving to Vietnam?

May 6th, 2009 admin No comments

Treyarch’s Noah Heller mentioned shortly before the release of Call of Duty: World at War that the developer was probably going to lay off World War II for a while, leaving many to wonder what the stage of operations for the next CoD would be. If a report from That VideoGame Blog proves accurate, Activision may be taking the franchise to a much groovier era — the 1960s. (Anno Domini, that is — though who are we to assume 1960 B.C. wasn’t equally groovy?)

TVGB is reporting that an anonymous, “trusted” source informed them Activision’s been looking to license “Vietnam War era tunes, as well as Cuban, African, and Soviet Union music.” The source mentioned that Heller (and, assumedly, Treyarch) is involved in the aforementioned license hunting. As with all rumors spawned by anonymous tipsters, we encourage you to take this rumor with a two-ton boulder of salt — just to be safe, we’ve contacted Activision for a comment.

Activision hopes Modern Warfare 2 is ‘biggest selling video game of all time’

April 4th, 2009 admin No comments

Activision brand manager Simon Wells told MCV that the company hopes Modern Warfare 2 will be the “biggest selling video game of all time,” beating out the high sales figures of Call of Duty 4 and Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at War.

“We want to propel this year’s title to be the biggest selling video game of all time. That may raise some eyebrows, but step back and look at the franchise’s trajectory through preceding launches, and this objective starts to look viable.”

He also added: “We firmly believe we have the potential to be the No.1 entertainment property of the year. The reality for a franchise as large as Call of Duty is that we are competing directly with entertainment propositions outside of the video game space,” said Wells.

Infinity Ward Confirmed for Next Call of Duty (COD6)

September 28th, 2008 admin No comments

Forgot to write about this earlier but Infinity Ward (those behind COD1, COD2 and most recent masterpiece COD4) are confirmed to be making COD6.

There are no further details about it though. Only that one of the greatest gaming companies will be back to making another Call of Duty title. There have been rumors it will take place in the future but who knows. They should stay where they left off though in Call of Duty 4.
