MW3: Face Off: Behind the Scenes Preview

Face Off is a new mode to the Call of Duty franchise. It distills all the fun and intensity of multiplayer into a new breed of 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2 close combat. Featuring smaller, super-concentrated multiplayer maps specially designed for Face Off to encourage strategy, skill, and teamwork like never before.

These Face Off maps will be available for free on May 16th for Xbox Live.

Modern Warfare 3 Face Off Mode Revealed

Take a look at the new and free Face Off Mode and their 2 new maps Erosion and Aground for the first set of DLC for May. Again, this DLC is free and while part of the Content Calendar, does not require you to pay for an Elite subscription as the rest of the content this month, the past and the future.

New MW3 Maps Tomorrow Sanctuary & Foundation

There are 2 new maps being released tomorrow for Modern Warfare 3 part of Infinity Ward’s Content Drop and only content drop for April 2012.

These 2 new maps are called Sanctuary and Foundation and from at least these 2 screenshots, look pretty decent enough from a few of their past map releases.

Though I do wonder if and when we will see any classic maps from past Call of Duty titles, especially any Call of Duty 4 maps especially Strike which is still one of my favorite maps.

If they ever released classic maps from previous Call of Duty games, which specific maps/favorites would you want them to release? And would you want them to be free? Because Robert Bowling could have possibly been fired/quit over Activision wanting to charge for them.

Modern Warfare 3 adds Prestiges 11 through 20

For the first time in Call of Duty history, there are now a total of 20 prestiges to Modern Warfare 3. You can now prestige from 11 through 20. But from what I have heard as of this moment, the highest you can go is 15 and if this happens to be true, I am sure they will unlock the last 5 prestiges on the next map pack drop for Elite members in March 2012. If you do not remember, Black Ops by Treyarch had a total of 15 prestiges.

Take a look at the new prestige symbols for Modern Warfare 3, they are the same except with a different roman numeral above them to show which prestige you are on.

Check out the next upcoming Modern Warfare 3 Map Pack coming out February 21st, 2012. This new map is called “Overwatch” and the video features the comedian and actor Rob Riggle showing it off.

Modern Warfare 3 getting nine months of DLC

As we reported back on November 10th, 2011 that Modern Warfare 3 would get 20 DLC packs over the course of 9 months, Activision/Infinity Ward has now released more information on this, when, early access to Elite subscribers and more!

Activision announced that 20 content packs are planned for release throughout the year, starting this month.

Modern Warfare 3 fans can expect a wide variety of DLC packs, such as your standard map packs, additional maps for the “Spec Ops” mode, and even extensions to Modern Warfare 3‘s singleplayer campaign.

“With the Call of Duty: MW3 Content Season for Call of Duty Elite we are delivering on our promise of more new content, more often, and with more variety than ever,” said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg in a statement.

“With three studios collaborating on the first season, the breadth and depth of material on tap is truly extraordinary. It’s rare you can successfully execute both quantity and quality, but thanks to the expertise of our developers, the reach of Call of Duty Elite and the passion of our fans, we intend to deliver.”

The season of Modern Warfare 3 content starts on January 24th with the release of the game’s first map pack that includes 2 new maps called Liberation and Plazza. These 2 maps will of course be available for multiplayer but as well as Spec Ops mode.

Activision says that each content drop, of which there will be 5 between January and March, will be made available to Call of Duty Elite subscribers on Xbox 360 first. Non-subscribers will have the option to pay for the DLC, and PC and PlayStation 3 users will get the content at a later date.

Modern Warfare 3 Map Pack 1 Screenshots

Infinity Ward has posted these new screenshots below of the new maps in the first DLC map pack to arrive for Modern Warfare 3 on January 24th.

These 2 new maps are called Liberation and Plazza. The map pack will arrive first on Xbox 360 exclusively for a small time period and ELITE subscribers will get first access to it before non-ELITE subscribers can purchase and play them. Those players on the PS3 or PC platform will have to wait longer, likely around a month, to play these new maps.

Modern Warfare 3 Improved Spawn Logic tonight

Robert Bowling has informed us on Twitter that Modern Warfare 3 will be getting an update to its spawn logic system tonight at 2AM PST/4AM CST/5AM EST on January 6th, 2012. This will improve when, where and how you spawn so “Goodbye revenge spawns” as Robert Bowling says.

Have you ever been curious as to what Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 3′s Ban hammer App (BanDialog) looks like? Well now you can, thanks to Robert Bowling himself for tweeting a picture of it, shown below.

The following options are in the application:

Reason for banning such as Glitching and for how long, in this screenshot, 2 Days.
Ban Summary text field as to why they are being banned.
What type of reset: Nothing, Positive Reset or Positive Reset with Prestige Tokens.
What punishment for leaderboarders: Nothing, Delete from Leaderboarders or Delete from SO Leaderboards.
What gametype to ban from: Multiplayer, SpecOps, Leaderboards, Prestige, Split Screen.

Also if you look to the left side of the image, you can see a list of players that are getting the ban, while it might only be 2 days or not is unknown but at least Infinity Ward is showing they are active to keeping the game as clean as they possibly can until either they decide to stop months down the road or the next Call of Duty comes out.

MW3′s First DLC Map Pack “Park” Screenshot

Yesterday we got a sneak peak at one of the map’s in the first downloadable content (DLC) to arrive for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 at the end of January 2012.

The screenshot is from a map called “Park” and this DLC will also 4 other multiplayer maps called Concrete, Italy, Overwatch and Morning Wood.
