Infinity Ward drops Call of Duty, just Modern Warfare 2

While Modern Warfare 2’s gameplay will still just be like of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward is getting rid of the Call of Duty name all together and it will just be called, Modern Warfare 2.

This does sadden me, especially when I love to refer to playing Call of Duty, it will not what-so-ever stop me from purchasing the game. It will rock and it will get me away from Call of Duty: World at War for a final time.

Here is the update from the GameSpot post:

[UPDATE] An official press release sent out the subsequent morning confirms that Modern Warfare 2 will not bear the “Call of Duty” prefix. Activision had not answered questions about whether or not the game was the unique new IP that Infinity Ward mentioned when it revealed that its top talent had signed long-term contracts with Activision last July.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Debut Trailer

Little is shown in this trailer, so do not expect much gameplay. It is really just a teaser and to tell everyone it is coming soon. Looking forward to it, while it is not the Call of Duty series for me, it is fun to play for a while when it comes out, especially online.

Call of Duty coming to Xbox Live Arcade

A new listing on the ratings website PEGI has made the surprising announcement that Call of Duty will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. It is unclear at this time if the game will be a remake of the 2003 classic PC/Mac shooter or a new addition to the series entirely.

Nokia mobile users will also have a new game to look forward to, with a listing for a Call of Duty strategy game.

Mistical’s CoD:WaW 1000+ Win Streak

Mistical reached a 1027 (Overall) / 1025 (TDM) win streak the other day. While this goal could of been reached months ago, some of us however stopped playing CoD:WaW all together (Dec ’08).

Diallo is currently almost at a 1000+ win streak while other members lost theirs over the months like Joel’s (Hendrix6406) win streak of 462.

Idiots Mass students protest CoD:WaW Dog Violence

Apparently student Breanna Lucci, among other students at Massachusett’s Academy of Notre Dame high school are upset about the need to shoot Nazi attack dogs in Call of Duty: World at War. Now forgive me for calling them idiots but what a pointless protest. Lucci is also the president of her school’s Animal Rights Club, go figure.

Now, I do agree that parents need to know what they are buying their kids. But dog killing in this game is little they should be worried about yet alone other games out there that parents need to be researching before they get their kids.

“Parents need to know what they are buying their kids. Killing animals should not be a form of entertainment,” Lucci told the local Lowell Sun. She was first introduced to the game’s canine genocide while watching her college aged brother playing. “My little 12-pound Pomeranian, Winnie the Pooh, is sitting next to him, and I’m thinking, ‘This looks horrible!'” Although she’s sure her brother “won’t be killing dogs after playing,” she believes “some people might.”

Lucci plans to forward her petition, which has been signed by more than 100 of her fellow students, to Activision. Contrary to some petitions aimed at game publishers, hers is simply a show of disgust, and does not call for any executives to be fired, boiled alive or hung by their feet until dead. You go, girl.

Little do they know that nothing is going to come out of this. Right now as of this post, there are 245,237 people playing Call of Duty: World at War online. I highly doubt Activision is going to issue a patch ever to stop the so called dog violence. Breanna is just another one of those people you hear on the news saying that video games cause violence.

Call of Duty 4 reaches 15 million online

For about a year and half old game, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare still is climbing all the time in players. As said by JoyStiq it has become a judger when comparing modern first-person shooters. It is still in the top 3 or 5 each each on Xbox Live’s weekly activity charts. Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling recently revealed the most convincing testimony of the game’s success while accepting CoD 4’s three BAFTA Awards in London earlier this week — according to Bowling, the game’s online multiplayer component has played host to just over 15 million players.
Bowling clarified that 11 million of said players joined CoD 4’s ranks via Xbox Live, while over four million entered the fray on PSN. He didn’t even mention how many PC gamers had gotten their war on, though we’re sure that when combined with the console players, CoD 4’s total online population would rival that of many average-sized countries.
